Two of the challenges when you are a DIY novice is firstly, knowing which tool to use and secondly, having the confidence to use it! Here at CBSA Tool Shed, we wanted to demonstrate how easy some of the tools are to use and remove some of the uncertainty around them. We are here as a stepping stone, to get people on to the path of Do It Yourself or as we like to call it, Did I? Yes!
We have kept the videos basic in their approach. They are for people who have little or no experience with a drill, a sander or any other power tool before. For example, you might expect a power tool to be noisy but it can still be a shock to the system to begin with! We take you through the basics of the tools to help you get familiar with them before borrowing.
These are the first of a series of videos which will showcase some of the tools CBSA Tool Shed has to loan. If we have a video to accompany a particular tool, it will be noted in the tool inventory so you can watch before deciding if it is the tool for you.
All the videos were filmed at our Llanelli unit and presented by our very own Tool Librarian Ian Butler. He has extensive experience in the building industry and takes great pleasure in sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for DIY with others. He was very happy to get involved with the videos saying, ‘Getting over the initial fear of using power tools is one of the first steps on the road to DIY. We hope these videos will help people do that’.
